We want to know how you work, so we will periodically create “feedback loops” where you can jump in and share your workflow with the world.
This week we want to know how you keep your projects organized. Do you keep them all in one folder? Do you sort by artist, album, or other criteria? Get in the loop and leave your feedback in the comments.

I keep them all organized by folder. I never include samples with my projects. When I start a new project, I usually don’t have a name so I just name it by the date. Bounced mixes get pulled into another separate project for mastering…makes it easy to go back and remaster later if I need to do another mix.
In process of songwriting each song is organized in one folder. At this time – in most cases – the song has still no name. The folder and the logic file will named song001 to song song999. In the process of mixing each mix will be a different file named by filename_datetime. At the end of the procect I include all samples and other files in the folder. Folder will be backed up and then the folder will be saved on a different hard drive. So I have always 2 copies on different hard drives.
Howdy,
I tend to keep things organized by project name and date.
I do copy samples because I'm afraid in the future some plugins won't exist/update I wont have a way to get the 'original' sound back. (many times I do bounce in place as an audio track instead of exporting a huge library though). I also create 'stems' folders, 'bounce' and 'For Air' folders. So every master published, and all tracks are available if i end up with a corrupted session that wont load in Logic 12.6.7, a million years from now
If I have to go back to the project months or years later, I pull it in from archives, load it and immediately 'save as the current date'.
if another studio needs to work with it, i can send them the setms folder so they can use them in pt, nuendo, dp or whatever, and send the bounce or for air folders so they can reference their mixes, in case of a remix/remaster.
sorry if i dragged on
Ciao
